FAQ

Gland packing is a type of sealing material used to fill the space between a rotating shaft and a stationary housing or between two mating parts in a mechanical system. It is used to prevent the leakage of fluids, gases, or other materials from the system. Gland packing works by using the pressure and friction generated by the movement of the shaft to create a seal.

In a mechanical seal, gland packing is used to fill the space between the rotating shaft and the stationary seal housing. It is used to prevent leakage of the fluid being sealed and to maintain the pressure within the system.

There are several types of Asbestos & Non Asbestos Gland Packings, including Pure PTFE Gland Packing, Pure PTFE Graphite Packing, Pure Aramid Packing, Aramid & PTFE Combination Packing, Aramid & PTFE Graphite Packing, Premium Expanded Graphite Packing, Ramie Fiber Packing etc.

To properly install gland packing in a sealing application, the packing should be lubricated and then carefully packed into the gland or seal housing. The gland should then be tightened to the appropriate torque to compress the packing and create a seal.

The main benefit of using gland packing in a sealing application is that it is a relatively simple and cost-effective way to create a seal. It is also relatively easy to install and maintain.

The choice of gland packing material can significantly affect the performance of the seal. Different materials have different properties and are suitable for different applications. For example, PTFE packing is resistant to chemicals, but for high temperatures, it may not be as durable as other materials.
